The second taping of George Jones: 50 years of Hits began with
host Keith Bilbrey, WSM Radio Personality, taking the stage and
giving the audience a preview on the show and an overview of
what to expect as a live audience.
Keith cracked a few jokes and is an awesome host and had the
audience's attention for the evening, as did some Texas Cowboy
in the crowd who managed to holler in his two cents whenever
given the chance.
Leading off on tonight's show was the even awesome Alan Jackson.
He took the stage wearing a
pair of holey well-worn jeans, white shirt trimmed with blue and his famous
white cowboy hat and snakeskin boots. Alan whipped out a great rendition of "One
Woman Man" gave the crowd a big wave and bow and off he went, in true cowboy
style, into the sunset.
Following Alan was EmmyLou Harris singing, as only she can, "One of these Days".
EmmyLou was wearing a Black dress and boots covered by a Royal Blue and Black
Rhinestone trimmed Jacket. Several in our group did take notice of the
rhinestone sparkles in her pantyhose-Good Touch EmmyLou. After listening to her
performance tonight, one would think that this song was especially written for
her.
Next up was the beautiful and talented Martina McBride wearing a black leather,
front slit skirt with an off the shoulder, spaghetti-strapped black sparkle
blouse with silver heels singing "And then Another". This was not the best I've
ever seen from Martina. She did several re-takes and yet still had the audience
in fits of laughter with some of her comments and at one point asked George, who
was sitting on the front row, for help, then turned and told the audience "If
you're going to have to have someone teach you to sing, it should be George".
Next up was George singing a duet, "I'm going to hold on" with Wynonna Judd.
Wynonna donned the stage wearing a black pantsuit and seemed to almost have
stage fright. After five re-takes and a sixth requested by Wynonna, the entire
audience had memorized the lyrics to "I'm going to hold on".
Shelby Lynn came on next asking the audience "Are you ready for some fun?" and
then started singing "Why Baby Why" and then sang a duet, "Take Me" with George
Jones. Shelby was wearing a black halter top with a zip-up black velvet
mini-skirt.
At this point George took the stage and sang "I must've done something bad and a
retake of the first show "I stopped loving her today".
Tearing apart the stage next was Tennessee's very own resident Tornado, Tanya
Tucker. Tanya was wearing a sophisticated black tuxedo style white trimmed
pantsuit and adorned with body sparkles and rhinestone jewelry, with the
exception of a few huge diamond rings that blinded the audience. Tanya sang,
"Walk through is world with me"
