LaCosta and her younger sister, Tanya
(Tanya Tucker), used to sing together, performing in local shows, and they dreamed of being a famous sisters act.
At one time in Arizona, La Costa and Tanya worked with a band called the Country Westerners. In her mid-teens, La Costa took part, as a solo act, in many talent shows and also entered beauty contests.

Her early musical influence was Jimmie Rodgers.
She was a conscientious student and in high school received a scholarship for music from the Fine Arts Department of the University of Arizona.
Later, she changed to Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, and received an associate degree. The first work she undertook was a job as a medical records technician located in Phoenix.

At this time, she entered more contests and became Miss Country Music, Phoenix.
She also began singing in local clubs with her back-up group, The Stone Bridge Band, and La Costa began to build her career in music.
At this time Tanya had made an impact on the Country music scene and was having hit records. La Costa had gotten married, and  her father, Beau Tucker, who acted as her manager, secured in 1974 a recording contract with Capitol Records.

Her first chart record was I Wanna Get To You, which reached the Top 25. La Costa very quickly became a success when her next single, Get On My Love Train, reached the Top 3.
In 1975, she charted with the Top 10 He Took Me For A Ride.

The remaining singles that year were This House Runs On Sunshine and Western Man, which both peaked in the Top 20.

The next year’s hits were I Just Got A Feeling (Top 30), Lovin’ Somebody on a Rainy Night (Top 25) and What’ll I Do (Top 40).
She continued to have singles on the chart, usually at the lower end of the scale, until the beginning of the 80’s.
La Costa left Capitol in 1980 and signed with Elektra in 1982
as La Costa Tucker. She had only one charted single, Love Take It Easy On Me, which reached the Top 50 and was her final single to appear on the Country list.

La Costa has appeared on many TV shows including those hosted by Bob Hope and Hoyt Axton.
La Costa staged a comeback in 1989 and toured with Tanya.

She and Tanya were part of a lineup in a Memorial Festival for Jimmie Rodgers.
As of the mid-1990s, La Costa was running Tanya’s fan club. LaCosta also has her own line of
Gourmet Candy, which I'm sure you can inquire about by emailing Tanya's website. There used to be a link to order it, but it's no longer available since Tanya's website was updated.
